Where can I find a low-cost traffic lawyer/attorney in NY?
It’s been extremely stressfull for the past several months, 4-5 months to be exact. I’m coming off of an unpaid internship ($10/day), just graduated with a Finance degree (unemployed for 3 months now)…and so during this time, I picked up several traffic tickets. I pleaded not guilty and have a court date for both.
I need an attorney to fight the following:
1) Speeding ticket at 3:00A.M. clocked in at 71 in 50…
2) Going over Pavement markers..(the beginning of a Solid white line, RIDICULOUS) at 7:00A.M. on a Sunday morning. I was going to drive into my school to STUDY for my exams.
I’ve seen other people say its under $100, which would be great.

Not to be facetious, but the NY Yellow pages is always a good start…
Any attorney would have to hear the full details of each of the cases above before they could advise on any fees. Also understand that those fees could (and often do) increase over time for varying reasons (let’s say if the lawyer uncovered additional information, he might have to increase those fees in order to include the necessary paperwork to have this evidence admitted).
My advice is to ask the lawyer up front if 1) you will be speaking directly to them (vs. one of their assistants or paralegals), and 2) If they will treat this as a free consultation. Speaking to paralegals is fine, but if they will charge you for the consult I would find someone else.
On a parting note, what your intention was at the time of getting said tickets (e.g. going to school to study) is irrelevant. I’ll leave it at that.
