What’s the best way to deal with a traffic ticket reported by a traffic camera?

I didn’t make a complete stop at a red light, and a traffic camera caught it. I can either pay the fine and attend traffic school, or hire a traffic attorney to fight for me. I hate the idea of paying between $100-$600 to a traffic attorney who’s just advertising on Google to just write something up, take my money, and who knows what the odds of winning are. Should I just pay the fine and attend traffic school?

Redlight cameras are rock solid evidence. In my jurisdiction you can even go online and look at the pictures and video of yourself running the light.

Just pay the fine and save yourself some money.
Yeah if the ticket doesn’t cost that much don’t bother wasting all the money on the attorney. You should have bought photoblock to spray on your license plate. Then those pesky cameras can’t take pictures of your plates and they can’t send you tickets.

You’d have a hard time fighting it. You are probably better off just paying the ticket and attending traffic school.

I have a traffic camera by my work and I kinda laugh every day
when I see some poor fool run the light and set of the camera flashes.

Depending on your state, you may not have to pay it. But you will have to fight it if you don’t want to pay it. The law on traffic tickets in most states is that a police officer has to physically see you commit the crime to give you a ticket. The camera is not a police officer. In court you have a right to confront your accuser. They can’t bring the camera to court and it can’t testify. As a result, the right to confront one’s accuser (habeas corpus) is violated. My best friend (a traffic lawyer) has won all of his traffic cases involving traffic cameras. You could easily fight it yourself.
fight it …you don’t need a lawyer. it is unconstitutional to charge you. if the only evidence is a picture of your license plate…send a letter to the prosecuting attorney for all evidence. it is called discovery…it is his/her job to prove you were driving. a judge will throw it out every time…site a Minnesota law overturned by the state supreme court if you half to…

oh, by the way for all you “trying to get out of paying a ticket” people, there is a book called “How to get out of paying a ticket” at barnes and nobles. seriously, i couldnt make this stuff up.
As an avid believer in light cameras I say pay it. I payed mine when I wasn’t paying attention and following to close to a big rig. If I had been paying attention(which we all should all the time when we drive) and gave myself plenty of room between us I just may have seen the stale yellow light and therefore made a better and safer decision.
